About Us

Rapid Rush is an upcoming blockchain‑powered, parkour‑style multiplayer racing game. We’re blending high‑octane action with cutting‑edge Web3 integrations, providing players with unique rewards, NFT‑based assets, and thrilling competitive gameplay. We’re looking for a Senior Multiplayer Backend Engineer to own the design, deployment, and maintenance of our real‑time game‑server infrastructure on AWS.

Responsibilities
  • Real‑Time Multiplayer Architecture: Build authoritative servers that handle large CCU spikes, low‑latency state sync, matchmaking, lobby creation, and session management.
  • AWS Game Hosting: Deploy and auto-scale fleets on GameLift or custom ECS / EC2 clusters with ALB/NLB routing, Spot‑instance cost controls, and health checks.
  • Data & Leaderboards: Design player‑profile, telemetry, and leaderboard schemas in DynamoDB; implement Redis/ElastiCache for ultra‑fast rank queries and caching.
  • WebSocket / gRPC APIs: Deliver live UI updates (scores, rewards) via API Gateway WebSockets or UDP‑based micro‑services; expose secure REST endpoints for game clients.
  • Security & DDoS Protection: Harden infrastructure with VPC segmentation, AWS Shield, WAF rules, IAM least‑privilege, server‑side validation, and anti‑cheat telemetry hooks.
  • Monitoring & Analytics: Instrument CloudWatch, X‑Ray, and Grafana dashboards; trigger autoscaling on custom metrics (tick‑rate, RTT, CCU).
  • CI/CD & IaC: Define infrastructure in Terraform/CloudFormation, automate builds with GitHub Actions or CodePipeline, and roll out blue‑green or canary server updates.
  • Admin Console (Python): Build a lightweight FastAPI dashboard for live ops—token grants, player bans, balance tweaks, real‑time stats.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Unity developers and game designers to align network code, prediction/rollback, and gameplay requirements.
  • Performance Optimization: Profile CPU, memory, and network throughput; tune GC, thread pools, and serialization to sustain 60 Hz tick under heavy load.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 3+ years running production AWS workloads and at least one shipped real‑time multiplayer title (mobile/PC/console).
  • AWS Mastery: Deep knowledge of EC2, ECS/Fargate, GameLift, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudFront, IAM, Shield, WAF. AWS certifications a plus.
  • Netcode & Protocols: Hands‑on with Unity Netcode, Photon, Mirror, or custom UDP frameworks; solid grasp of interpolation, prediction, and rollback.
  • Backend Languages: Proficiency in Python or Node.js (C# bonus) with strong asynchronous programming skills.
  • Security Focus: Expertise in encryption, secure key storage, cheat detection, and DDoS mitigation.
  • Soft Skills: Clear communicator who can document APIs, mentor teammates, and thrive in a fast‑moving startup environment.
  • Preferred: Prior work with analytics pipelines, Kinesis/Kafka, or machine‑learning‑based cheat prevention.
What We Offer
  • Competitive token/equity allocation.
  • Opportunity to work at the intersection of gaming, Web3, and cutting‑edge cloud technologies.
  • A collaborative, innovative environment where your ideas drive real impact.
  • Flexible work arrangements (remote/hybrid options) and a chance to grow alongside a passionate development team.
